A grand 2-story victorian mansion built circa 1900 by Julius Otto as
his private home, today Pilot House Guest House stands proud in the
center of Key West's Historical district known as Old Town. It boasts
verandas and porches with hand-milled spindels and gingerbread trim.
After the labored restoration in 1990, receiving the prestigious "Excellence
Award For Preservation" by the Florida Keys Preservation Board,
The owners opened the doors to the mansion as a guest residence. Appointed
with a careful blend of antiques and decorated with tropical furnishings
accommodating the ciscriminating tastes of experienced travelers, They
offer unique lodging accommodations with 6 guest rooms to choose from,
all with private bath, color cable tv, phone, air conditioning and paddle
fans.
They carefully chose the wallpapers and fabrics to complement the original
character of the Otto House, and added our own touch of modern convenience
with marbled baths and fully equipped kitchens. The staff is on hand
to provide you with information to the palm studded island that only
a locals can share with you. Newly added to the tropical paradise of
the Pilot House compound are the brand new poolside Cabana Suites, which
feature in-room Jacuzzis, mini-bars and modern tropical decor. Each
has its own private entrance, and selected smoking suites are available.
