Many people don't realize how pricey the meals can be here because, upon first glance, it looks like a casual Duval Street cafe, but both its prices and cuisine are a notch above casual. Antonia's (305) 294-6565 - 615 Duval St, Key West, FL 33040 - From the perfectly seasoned homemade focaccia to an exemplary crème brûlée, this elegant little standout is amazingly consistent. The menu includes a small selection of classics, such as zuppa di pesce, rack of lamb in a rosemary sauce, and veal Marsala. Reservations suggested. Average cost pp: $24 USD 6pm to 11 pm daily

Ricks Blue Heaven (305) 296-8666 - 305 Petronia St, Key West, FL 33040 - Cockfights and boxing matches refereed by Ernest Hemingwayare are said to have taken place here but now it's a avant-garde artwork gallery and restaurant on tropical grounds. Caribbean cusine predominates and baking is done on the premises with homemade desserts, rolls and breads. Breakfast, lundh and dinner and a Sunday brunch. Visit the Water Tower Bar. No reservations and there's usually a line. Average cost pp: $ 20 USD 8-11:30am, noon-3pm, and 6-10:30pm Sun brunch 8am-1pm daily (Closed mid-Sept to early Oct)
